Reepham Cluster 7 a side football festival
8/11/11
Yr 5 and 6 students from the Reepham area took part in a 7 a side football tournament at Reepham High School and College. Luckily the day stayed dry as the 5 teams arrived. The top 4 teams from the group stage qualified for the semi finals. The games were fiercely contested with Asltey and Cawston beginning to stamp their authority with some very good displays. Foulsham were well organised and very unlucky not to win some of their games. Both Reepham teams played some lovely football scoring some well taken goals along the way.
At the end of the group stages Astley, who won the mini league, were due to play Reepham B’s in the first semi final. Reepham took an unexpected first half lead with a tidy finish past the Astley keeper. Reepham B’s tried to hold out until the end of the game but Astley came back strongly in the second half with 2 fine strikes to put the game out of Reepham B’s reach. In the second semi final it was Cawston vs. Reepham A’s which ended goalless in the first match of the day in the group stage. Cawston produced a solid display to gain their place in the final
The final between Cawston and Astley was a tightly contested affair. Astley showed why they won the mini league and produced some fine football to win the tournament. Congratulations to all teams that took part and thanks to all teachers and helpers that made the day possible.
