Despite persistent rain all day nearly 200 children from West Norwich & Dereham Schools came together at the FDC for a day of Football competition which was fiercely competitive & thoroughly enjoyed.
The competition for Big Schools was aimed at Yr3 & 4 girls and 11 teams battled the conditions & each other in some high quality action. After plenty of goalmouth incident across all the games it was Costessey Junior School who emerged triumphant, seeing off the challenge of Scarning Primary in the final.
For the Small Schools it was a mixed gender Yr4-6 competition that produced goals galore. A fantastic display of skill, sportmanship & teamwork was on show from all 8 teams - but Corpusty Primary rose to the top of the table after going undefeated throughout the day, notching an awesome 68 goals in their 7 games along the way!
Credit to must go to all the children for showing fantastic spirit, commitment & enthusiasm in truly awful weather conditions. Huge thanks also must go to the first year students of DESA (Dereham Education & Sports Academy) for officiating, organising & delivering such a good event - as well as the FDC for hosting.
