On a beautiful summer's day nearly 200 children took part in the Partnership Kwik Cricket Competition held at Great Witchingham Cricket Club.
It was perfect conditions for Cricket, and with the ground at Great Witchingham looking terrific 12 teams battled it out in the Big Schools competition with a further 6 teams in the Small Schools equivalent.
With all the games expertly umpired by the team of Young Leaders from Northgate High, it allowed for some fantastic displays of batting & bowling alongside wonderful fielding as all the games were played at a high level of ability and in the correct spirit.
In the Big Schools event, a morning of group games led to three Schools battling it out for first place - Scarning, Corpusty & St.Augustines. Some brilliant Cricket played under some real pressure meant Scarning emerged as our winners, with Corpusty finishing as runners up. Both schools now go on to represent the Partnership at the County Level 3 finals in late June where we wish them luck!
1st - Scarning 2nd - Corpusty 3rd - St.Augustines 4th - Toftwood 'B'
5th - Firside 6th - Reepham 7th - Kinsale 8th - Costessey
9th - S.Morley 'B' 10th - Drayton 11th - Toftwood 'A' 12th - S.Morley 'A'
The Small Schools had a more traditional round robin format, and each team squeezed in three games but that then made for a very tight final league table decided on "runs scored"
1st - Yaxham 10pts (740 runs) 2nd - St.Peters 10pts (734 runs)
3rd - North Elmham 10pts (729 runs) 4th - Gt.Witchingham 10pts (696 runs)
5th - Hockering 'B' 3pts (690 runs) 6th - Hockering 'A' 3ptd (650 runs)
A huge thanks must again go to the superb leaders from Northgate, who umpired all day in some very hot conditions! Also, a huge thank you must go to Great Witchingham Cricket Club for letting us use their amazing ground and facilities which provided the perfect setting for such a great day.
