Schools 'Try' Their Best at Tag Festival!

It was the turn of Tag Rugby to enter the WNDSSP spotlight as nearly 300 children took part in our Partnership finals & Development festival at Crusaders RUFC.

Both the weaether & conditions were perfect for Rugby at Crusaders RUFC and certainly allowed for some fantastic Tag to be played throughout the day.

11 teams entered our Development Festival, and after a morning of coaching & skills sessions expertly delivered by the Neathers Sports Leaders the games got underway. The focus of this festival was to introduce children to the fantstic sport og Tag Rugby without the added pressures of results & qualification and it was great to see so many children enjoying the activities with huge smiles on their faces.

Our 'traditional' Schools competition was jam-packed with 14 teams and was as close & competitive as expected - and all refereed superbly by the Sports Leaders from Northgate High. After a morning of Group games, the winners & runners-up from each group made up the Cup competition with the other teams in Plate action. The tries continued to rain in & the standard of play was incredibly high throughout, and it all cumulated with St.Augustines taking on Lyng in the grand final. St.Augustines produced a strong display to see off a very spirited Lyng side who were the best-performing Small School on the day. Full results can be seen on the document below.

Huge thanks amust go to Crusaders RUFC for hosting us so brilliantly, and to the simply superb Leaders from Neatherd & Northgate High Schools who coached & refereed all the games with confidence, skill and real authority.
