Spring Round Up!

As the Spring terms come to an end we can look back & reflect on a fantastic half-term of sporting activity here at WNDSSP!

We kicked things off with our Sportshall Athletics event at the UEA Sportspark where close to 200 pupils from Years 3 to 6 took part in our Sportshall Athletics event. It was a day packed full of running, jumping & throwing all set to a very raucous atmosphere and it was brilliant to see the Children competing against each other in such a sportsman-like way.

We then follwed this with 8 teams taking part in our Small Schools Football tournament at GOALS Norwich which saw the goals rain in as the children from our Smaller Schools displayed some fantastic skills.

Next was our Dance show (you can see a seperate report on theat under 'news') before we welcomed over 100 SEN children into the spring sunshine at Taverham High School for our 'Adapted Sports Day'. Here, the children got to try out modified versions of various sports such as Football, Tennis, Cricket, Boccia & lots more under the watchful & expert eye of the Taverham High Sports Leaders.

Our penultimate event of the half-term was a Football Festival aimed at Yr3/4 pupils who do not currently play for any Community Clubs. The children received some expert coaching from the Students from the Dereham Soccer Academy (DESA) before getitng stuck in to a series of friendly games in brilliant spirit.

We then closed the half-term off with our rearranged KS2 Cross Country event which suffered at the hands of the Weather back in November. Whilst it was a chiily day this time it thankfully stayed dry aloowing close to 500 children to take part in a series of Cross Country events around the beautiful grounds of Langley Prep School at Taverham Hall. There was determination, enthusiasm, passion & smiles in abundance as the children raced each other & helped each other across the demanding course. Always one of our favourite evetns, it was a real pleasure (and relief!) to be able to get this event back in the Calendar.

A huge thanks must go to all the venues, Young Leaders, School staff and of course the Children for making this half-term such a success & such fun - we can't wait to cime back for the Summer Term for plenty more sporting fun in the sun!
