We kicked off our first WNDSSP event for 2022-2023 at the Yr2-4 Active Kids Festival on 29 September 2022 at Taverham High School. This was an Engaged theme event and was for non-competitive and targeted pupils who would benefit from being more physically active (pupils not achieving 60 active minutes daily). All pupils received a participant certificate and the School Games value for the event was Self Belief. All children were encouraged to display the school games values and fair play but each team nominated one pupil from their school who stood out the most portraying the Self- Belief School Games Value. We had 15 schools that attended:
The Schools rotated around 8 multi-skills stations in :
Thank you and well done to the new 22-23 Taverham High School sports leaders who did a brilliant job delivering the activities and encouraging the children. Overall, It was a great event with over 150 children engaging in a variety of activities to achieve their personal best and to try something new. The children got more confident as the day went on and enjoyed the activities. The event provided a great opportunity for the pupils to come represent their school in a sports event for the first time and encourage the pupils to get more active (achieve atleast 60 active minutes a day). Following on from today's event, we encourage schools to provide the children an opportunity to develop and improve their fundamental skills further by putting on clubs before/after school, active travel, lunchtimes and breaktimes activities to support a pathway for pupils to join a local community club in a sport/ physical activity to have a healthy active lifestyle.
